I'm a freelance journalist, focused primarily on documentary film, art, and social justice, with bylines in the Washington Post, the New York Times and other publications.

Sources I've interviewed include Danny Glover, Ed Harris, filmmaker Keith A. Beauchamp (“Till”), Rory Kennedy, Tia Lessen and Carl Deal, the Rev. Wheeler Parker, Jr. and Simeon Wright (cousins of Emmett Till), Audrey Flack, Marco Williams, Thomas Robb (the national director of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan), former FBI Special Agent Dale Killinger, investigative journalist and MacArthur fellow Jerry Mitchell, film critic and director Godfrey Cheshire, John Yoo (formerly of the George W. Bush administration), and Herbie Hancock.

A dual citizen of the USA and Canada, I grew up mostly in Canada, received an MFA from the Columbia University School of the Arts film school, and live in New York City with my partner, a lawyer specializing in human rights.

One hundred and eighty degrees away, in the world of fiction, I'm a director and screenwriter and the founder of Blissfield, a company devoted to developing and producing projects for theater and film. For more about Blissfield, go here. (The link to Blissfield will be live soon.)
